What defines the job of an office manager is being highly organised, being able to work in a structured way and being able to tackle a myriad of different tasks and duties – often juggling several at the same time. “Office managers have to know everything about a business and in turn work with complete integrity because they have so much knowledge – from core data to hiring and firing.” The scope of skill required for the job has changed too – this is a smart career choice. “Over the last 30 years the job role has changed from being about staplers to being the right-hand man or woman to the CEO of a corporation. “An office manager is at the very heart of any organisation, and is crucial to the smooth running of any business of any size,” says Jenelle Clifford, Marketing Director of leading specialist recruitment agency, Love Success.
